What you'll do…

As a Quality Engineer, Failure Analysis, you will play a key role in identifying, investigating and understanding battery cell, material and component failures across the product lifecycle. Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Laboratory teams, you will use a range of analytical techniques to uncover root causes, support problem-solving activities and drive continuous improvement.

This is an exciting opportunity to help build Agratas' failure analysis capability from the ground up, supporting the development of world-class battery products as we scale our operations.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct failure investigations on battery cells, components and materials.
  • Support investigation planning using non-invasive, invasive and destructive analysis techniques.
  • Perform cell tear-downs, electrochemical diagnostics and material characterisation activities.
  • Analyse data and test results to identify failure mechanisms and root causes.
  • Support structured problem-solving activities, including 8D and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Laboratory teams.
  • Prepare clear technical reports and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Support the development and standardisation of failure analysis methods and procedures.
  • Assist with the setup, qualification and effective use of failure analysis equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements, risk assessments and laboratory procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities that enhance investigation quality, efficiency and capability.
  • Support the development of technical knowledge, failure libraries and best-practice guidance.

What you'll bring…

Essential

  • Degree in an engineering, science or related technical discipline.
  • Experience in failure analysis, diagnostics, quality investigation or root cause analysis.
  • Ability to analyse data and identify failure mechanisms and improvement opportunities.
  • Knowledge of quality tools such as 8D, Root Cause Analysis or PFMEA.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in cross-functional manufacturing or engineering teams.
  • Understanding of quality management systems and safe working practices.
  •  

Preferred

  • Experience within battery, automotive or other manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with laboratory, diagnostic or analytical equipment.
  • Knowledge of battery technologies and failure mechanisms.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent continuous improvement training.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced or scale-up environment.
